A few weeks ago I found a place (on Sygate forums) where you could download the free version of Sygate Firewall 5.5.2525...
But now that Symantec has killed the forum I can't find the location to download it anymore.

My friend needs a new firewall on his XP machine, and all search results on Google leads me to the 5.6 download which is not working too well on his machine (crash). Even if it says on the webpage "5.5.2525 download" it's still 5.6 I'm downloading...

I would appreciate any help. Thanks

edit: Could be a different build version (2525) I'm not really sure.

    These should be available.
Latest stable version IMO is 5.5.2710, but guess not much changes from the version you mentioned. Never did remember Sygate having many security issues reported.

The latest and greates final version is the one which i'm hosting.
Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6.2808 was downloaded from Sygate main page when it was still available (before Symantec acquired them).
And it's also recognized by Security Center. Version 5.5 is not as far as i remember.

I would highly recommend against having 5.6.2808 available. I respect you for keeping alive what was once (and still is) an amazing firewall. However, 5.6 was never released for Pro simply because of all the bugs reported in the Free version. In the Sygate forums in the Announcement section they even made the link for 5.5.2710 a Sticky because they changed their minds and wanted users to download that instead. I bet they regret releasing 5.6 all together in the shape it was in.

Personally, I wish Sygate was never ruined by Symantec because Sygate was always my favourite firewall for Windows. It didn't try to be anything that it was not, like ZoneAlarm. It remained simply a firewall, and a very good firewall at that.

    Cheers,
    Dave
