SpyCop v4.5 has been released.  There are quite a few new features
    in v4.5 including:

-Optional weekly reminder for periodic scans so that your privacy does
    not go unprotected.

-Faster downloading while updating the signature database.

-The process priority is automatically changed to low when minimized so
that other tasks are not affected.  This allows SpyCop to run silently while
you do other things on your computer.

-Single file scanner is now built into the main program itself to decrease
download size and ease of use.

-The "Scan for running" option has been replaced with the option to scan
newly created files since the last scan.  This allows those who never
reboot to take advantage of fast maintenance scans.

-A new screensaver which will scan your system when you are away from
your system.  The saver launches SpyCop and then displays a moving
logo to prevent screen burn-in while your system is scanned for spy
    programs.

-The filenames of files that are being scanned are displayed in the title bar
and in the task bar while scanning so you have more feedback as to what
    SpyCop is doing.

-The trial version is not limited to 200 files any longer!  The new trial
version is almost fully functional and allows the software to be more fully
evaluated and tested before purchasing.  Limitations include no automatic
database update, can only scan drive C and it expires after 5 days.

-The dialogs throughout the interface have been cleaned up and made
more consistent so that the software is easier to use and understand.

It is IMPERATIVE that any pre-4.5 versions of SpyCop are uninstalled
before upgrading.  There have been many changes to the software in this
version which may not work properly if the software is not cleanly
installed.  Upgrades to both the program itself and signatures are free for
life after your one time purchase of the software.

The Frequently Asked Questions page at www.spycop.com/faq.htm has been updated to discuss the new features in this version.

In case you have more than 1 drive/partition:
don't forget to go, after the install of the new SpyCop, to the settings tab and put there in the right place your drives/partitions  ;)

I notice that the amount of time it takes to check for updates has been drastically reduced - before v4.5 it took atleast a minute, now it takes about 20 secs.

Good deal! I only have so many seconds before I have to go to work! :) Pete

The option to scan newly created files since the last scan reduced my scan time to four minutes (from fourteen minutes).

Later today I'll email them and ask if, after first performing a full scan once, whether you can rely on that option even if you do re-boot.

Moving this one to Privacy Software. Pete
