Hey guys, it might seem kind of silly, but I thought about running both of these programs at the same time. If there aren't any conflicts, I figure the worst that can happen is overlapping protection. Has anyone tried this safely?

MBAM and SAS both in pro mode violates the general security rule that having two active protection applications of the same family installed at the same time can cause conflicts .

I agree with nosirrah, cause there is not really an answer on this.

You may hear people say "I have been running 2-3 anti-somethings without any conflicts", but what happens when an infection occures and one of them has to take action?

Best scenario, a nice BSoD :cautious:

Yeah, that's very true, I don't need any unnecessary problems that could have easily been avoided. I like SAS Pro a lot and have been hearing praise for MBAM here, so I want to give it a try too.

    Hi,

    I concur 100%.

Except that SAS pro may prolong Windows XP shutdown time by up to 50%.

50% of 5 seconds is only 2.5 seconds. ;) Disable FCP > scan on system shutdown if you find that an extra couple of seconds is an inconvenience while shutting down/rebooting.

They taught me this rule more than 2 years ago at SWI Forum, but these new users don't listen to basic rules anymore, they even download objects from unknown sources (another basic rule) and are surprised when they get infected.
They think "I'm a member of Wilders, nothing can happen to me." ;)

Bruce - you should know well enough that SUPERAntiSpyware does not conflict with MalwareBytes/MBAM or basically any other sercurity software so unless MBAM has problems co-existing there should be no problems running SUPERAntiSpyware Professional (or Free Edition) with any other security software.

SUPERAntiSpyware was specifically designed to co-exist with other security products in real-time as we all know that multiple layers of protection are necessary in the fight against spyware/malware/viruses, etc.

    Hi,

After seeing Nick's post, I put SAS pro 4.15.1000 with MBAM 1.20 pro together.

So far so good. I feel lucky to have these two top notched AS application side by side under the same roof. :)

Would you please be willing to do a little test? Throw in a sample that is in boths products defs, just to see what happens.

    Hi,
    My theory, very simple:

Do not use it, if having any trace of doubt,
When use it, do not dare to have any of those doubts. :)

my advice would be image your computer.
install both as realtime. if any issues report them and if the issues affect you to much restore the image and wait for it to be fixed.

I feel confident because I know our software inside and out - and we have over 9 million users that use more than one product in real-time and/or on-demand with no issues. :)

I do trust your expertise Nick especially when it comes to your own software but when an mbam employee states dat running the two is a bad idea he must have a good reason for it. Anyways its not actually for me but for my brother who's getting a new vista laptop (his first pc) and i need to make sure its optimal but will not cause any problems. IMO SAS n MBAM are not exactely same sort of apps, where SAS will mainly target Spyware, hard to remove malware n Rootkits MBAM will target what av's misses in general therefore it seemed to be an excellent combo but then again i could be mistaken.
