    Hi Folks,

Our corporate AV licence is due to expire this summer and I'm in the market for a replacement and need 25-30 licences. The previous sys admin went with AVG because it was cheap, but I'm looking to change (not a big fan of AVG).

We are not really a high risk environment and need POP3 scanning and real-time protection. Adware/spyware detection would also be nice as this is probably most of the threats we see, but I would consider virtually any AV to be equal or better than AVG we currently have. Price is an important issue, so I wondered if anyone was aware of any great deals going in the UK for 25-30 licences (I think we paid about £300 for a 2-year deal on 30 licences last time, so about £5/machine/year).

    Thanks,

    Ned

F-Prot does not satisfy ALL of your requirements but it is certainly very cheap .

    Hi Blackcat,

Do you know if it has POP3 scanning for Outlook?

Price looks good though. I'm assuming it doesn't include much adware/spyware detections.

The present version, F-Prot 3, does not have a specific email scanner, but Attachments are scanned when an attempt is made to run/open them. Further it does not offer much help against spyware.

The new beta, however, seems to have a specific email scanner, but it looks like it only works with Outlook Express!:doubt:

Worth contacting Frisk support if you are interested in a possible trial/purchase ;)

Actually, a 25-pack of KAV Workstation would seem either basically within reach of your budget or perhaps just a bit dear. I use the Workstation product at home and it is a very nice single package.

Yes, I run KAV 5/6 myself. I'd love to have KAV at work, but their pricing for a 25 licence pack is more expensive for 1 year than AVG was for more licences and a 2-year deal - so it's more than double the price. I don't think our MD would go for a more than 100% price hike no matter how good the product :(

F-Prot is looking good atm, about £65 for 25 licences for 1 year. I guess I can live without POP3 email scanning as the real time scanner should catch any attachments users attempt to open (although I have them fairly well trained not to), plus our ISP has AV running on the mail gateway (although a fair few Bagle/Netsky worms still seem to get through). We're thinking of switching hosting companies, and the new host runs Kaspersky on their gateway so that should catch most stuff anyway. It's just the adware/spyware I'd have to worry about.

Anyone else got any hot deals?

Isn't AVG good enough for detecting adware/spyware? I think if AVG still works for you so why you have to change it?

Try avast! Suites to see if it fits to your needs.

I've been using eTrust Antivirus at work and very pleased with it, eTrust has cheap local price rates that we can afford while so many other good AV's don't have local price rates which so expensive in our country.
