Problems I've encountered with Shadow Defender.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could help me with these problems.

1. When i copy large files into an excluded folder, it still is EXTREMELY slow to copy over the network.

2. I've left my ESET folder excluded. However after a few days, the lastupd.ver file size uses ALL of the remaining free HD space. So if i had 12gb free, that file would be 12gb and i'd have problems.

3. Battlefield 2, displays a memory.dll error when in shadow mode.

If anyone can help me with these problems it'd be great.

 

Tony is a friend,but it seems more and more each version, gets less stable on at least my PC. Especially slowing it down while in shadow mode.

i can answer ur 1st question

this is quite normal in SD
copying files to an excluded folder the copying speed decrease to less than its half

the reason is :
when copying to the excluded folder
SD silently copy the same file to the original hard disk besides its copying to the SD temp files
this is the main mechanism by which SD acts
and this subject and this point exactly was matter of a long dissction between me and tomy
i asked him to change this mechanism of exclusion to another way
but this seems to be very difficult
but this problem may be solved in next versions v2.0 or even 3,0
we still at v1.1


shadow user acts in another way in excluding folders but it does not protect against low level malwares beside it hasn't been updated for years


while other light virtualizing programs like power shadow and returnil offer no exclusion capabilities at all

 

Hi, folks:

I do not know whether the following phenomenon is a problem or not :

After I boot Window XP 3 in SD normal mode, free memory will show around 250 MB (of 1 gb memory capacity), but as soon as I set into SD's shadow mode, free memory will suddenly jump up to 520 MB.

Why ? I have heard complaints just opposite.

Any advice ?

i ll try to give u me opinion
following a logical analysis of the situation

1- ur ram is 1 gb
2-the normal free ram is 250 mb
3-free ram at shadow mode is 520

these are the available data
and here's the interpretation

1- a ram of 1gb is quite good "mine is 512 and previously was 265 and i was satisfied"

2-under normal contions , a free ram of 250 out of 1gb is NOT normal
i always have more than 50% of my ram free
a 750 mb consumption of ram under the normal situations may be due to

a) softwares start with the windows consume alot of ram "4ex. norton , video converting tools"
b) viruses or worms infecting ur system and do hidden processes like copying itself


3- under the shadow mode u got more free ram
although this is also abnormal
but there's a fact that " do not trust the numerical data about the free ram and the ram consumed by the multible processes on ur pc while in shadow mode " due to false results"

however psychologically , u may be satisfied by the very much free ram available

but the only this that u should ask ur self now
what is consuming 750 mb of my ram under the normal conditions ?
