Probably a Preboot Problem here. Snapshots can not boot.

    Hi,

I am testing InstantRecovery Home and I am having trouble getting things to work correctly.
Please have a look at the details and advise me on how to correct things.

This is a brand new computer.
I installed a new SSD (Samsung 950 pcie NVME SSD) and, using Samsung Data Migration software, cloned the factory harddrive from the laptop onto the SSD and rebooted.

On reboot, I enter the Bios to change the bootmode from EUFI to Legacy, this enables me to boot from the new SSD.
The SSD Boots fine. I shut down and remove the factory HDD.

I boot the SSD and reboot and use the SSD to verify things all working fine, then install InstantRecovery Home, I get a prompt about TPM telling me that TPM will not be used.
I finish the installation of IR.
I copy/update the Primary snapshot to Secondary snapshot. When the operation is complete, I try to boot into the Secondary snapshot.

The computer reboots. But does not find the boot files on the SSD.
I enter the Bios and verify that the SSD is still recognized and select the SSD as the boot drive.

The SSD is unbootable, the error message essentially says there is no operating system on the drive.

At this point, a Windows 10 recovery disk was used to try to repair the start up process.
The automatic startup repair fails to boot the drive (the error message simply says that startup can not be repaired on this computer)
The commands bootrec/fixboot, bootrec/fixmbr, used to work for Windows 7 + FD-ISR environment, but does nothing in this case.

At this point, the SSD is no longer usuable. It is secure-erased and the cloning process starts over again.
IR can be installed on the machine, snapshots can be created from previous archives, but they can not be booted to.

IR works without errors when creating, restoring archives, it just seems the preboot is disabled by default, or by either Windows or some thing else (security software is disabled when IR is being tested) and consequently,
even after I rightclick and Enable Preboot on a secondary snapshot, I can not boot into it.

What can I do to get the software working ?
    Thanks.
    Ragz

This may be one for Raxco support. May be Pandlouk will drop in and offer a suggestion

Thanks Pete, I was hoping you would chime in. I'm not hopeful now, when you don't have the solution. The thing about this problem is that I cant retrieve the log file since creation of a secondary snapshot works without errors

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but your setup is very different then mine. But Raxco is top notch in support, and I bet they can straighten out for you.
