i have just bought prevx csi, i have had to format my computer recently, in fact i have formatted four times to try to cure a problem, but prevx csi stops working. The people at prevx have given me a new licence but have told me that this iwill be my last, why when i have paid for a years cleaning, they are dictating how often i format my computer why does it stop working afte a format and they should give me as many licences as required during my subscription, is it a big con trick

    Hello,
We're not trying to con you out of anything, you are just exhibiting a statistically high number of reformats within a short period of time. All software vendors run into problems handling this behavior properly (same as hardware changes) because there is no 100% solution to identify a computer.

Please message me if you do require another re-activation and I'll override our limit of 5 resets manually and get you a new license.

(EDIT: Also, if anyone else reads this thread and experiences a similar problem, let me know :))

o_O Only 5 resets!!!!! But there must be at least 500 reinstalls before you need a reset!!!!! What's a Wilderite who switches security software at least once a day to doo_O?

    :ouch: LOL!!!!

    :D

Our licensing system breaks when the OS is reinstalled, so, only when reformatting the OS would you require a new license. When uninstalling/reinstalling, everything should remain the same and you can do that as many times as you want.

What about imaging software? Does the licence stay intact even though the image might be a couple months old?

Never thought of asking this one before. :)

That's a good question - generally it seems to stay intact, but it does depend on the capabilities imaging program. As long as the image is restored onto the same system it came from, it should be intact, but I've heard of some newer programs which can restore images to other systems, and that would most likely break our licensing.

I have restored an acronis image with 2.0 dozens of times without it breaking but if I do a full reformat/ reinstall I have had times I needed a reset. I am restoring on the same computer and same hard drive though. If I wasn't in a lazy mood I would switch my hard drives around and do a restore on the other hard drive to see what happens. :D

:D If 2.0 was able to maintain the identity of the license fine, then CSI (and v3) will all be fine as well (barring any random issues :)).

There are really very few users who actually require resetting their licenses that many times, but in some random cases where the user enjoys frequent reformatting, I don't mind bending the license distribution rules :)

My licence is for 2 people so surely we should be entitled to 8 resets

Webbit, the user PrevxHelp said he would help you. You can't get more clear, and better service, than that can you? :)

Just send him a private message (PM), and it will all be sorted out.

    Case closed brother!

Yes. Although I wish I was psychic, I currently do not possess the ability to guess 36 character license keys (working on it adamantly tho!). Drop me a PM and I'll get it sorted ASAP :) My finger has been sitting on the 'reset' button :D

Great :thumb: let me know whatever you need :)

Good luck sorting out the problem :doubt: that's quite a lot of time reformatting trying to solve it!
