    Hi,
At our college we have been asked as part of our project to replace our present Norton 360 with open source based total security software with source code to integrate. We aren't keen on AVG / Avira as they offer only annual signatures free. We have narrowed down what we need and found Winpooch fits our requirement, so now we need help in finding similar softwares.

    Our Mandatory Features:-
    WE FOUND:-
    Antivirus / Anti Sypware : http://winpooch.free.fr/page/home.php?lang=en&page=home Source code Av/Spyware :- http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=122629

    NEED HELP IN FINDING:-
    Antispam
    Antiphishing
    Anti-Rootkit/ Rootkit Detection
    Privacy/ Identity protection
    Website authentication
    Network monitoring/ Wifi Wireless Protection
    Firewall protection
    Automatic backup and restore
    PC performance tune
    Automatic updates
    Email scanning/ AntiPhishing
    Parental controls

Extra features if you can find, not mandatory:-
    Proactive Protection
    Gamer Mode
    Web Time Limiter
    Application Control
    Trace Clean-Up
    Workstation Protection
    Fileserver Protection
    E-mail Server Protection
    Sharepoint Server Protection

    Thanks in advance! :D

Are you looking for only open source programs or free programs too. In addition to AVG and Avira, Avast also have a free version. Avast free version also includes spyware protection and some of the other features your looking for. All three free AVs offer free updates to both the definitions and programs until the companies decide otherwise. If your looking for free programs then there are many available.

Firefox browser and it's many Add-ons may have some of the other features you mentioned and it's open-sourced.

    Also, why not run Linux?
