What is new?

* File & Registry Shield
Users can create rules to limit the access of certain application groups to specified files, folders or registry keys. Due to the advanced nature of this feature it is only available in "Advanced Mode".
* Completely reworked GUI
Online Armor 5.0 was adapted to the design of the other Emsisoft products and shows a lot of usage simplifications. Additionally the readability of alert windows has been optimized.
* IE Addons removed
The IE Addons menu was removed. BHOs are really just another autorun and are now handled as such.
* Content filtering in Web Shield removed
The content filtering aspects of the Web Shield were removed. They were introduced at a time when essentially all browsers lacked control over active content or your private information. Times have changed though and most modern browsers actually do a far superior job now than the Web Shield ever did. Therefore we decided to remove the content filtering from the Web Shield which will result in better compatibility and network performance.
* Improved self protection on x86 and x64 systems.
* Over 400 detail improvements and bug fixes based on user and tester feedback.


How to install Online Armor 5.0?
Just run the setup and choose to upgrade your installation.

Known problems:

* The setup may offer you a trial version although it is no longer available on your system.
* The translations may be incomplete at the moment.

About the ++ version, no improvements for the AV part? I already found it quite basic and outdated compared to other AV's in v4 but if it doesn't change, I think it's better to dump it and focus on the free and premium versions for v6. Or they could combine EAM and OA in one suite and have an really effective one compared to ++.

File&Registry shield is a feature that you can protect your personal files and registry keys from unauthorized access.
Simply choose key/file to protect and make rule for trusted, untrusted and unknown program.

Great to see vendors actually stripping stuff when releasing new versions, more vendors should learn that. Time has changed, users don't want all kind of fancy names anymore, but just one integrated solution (consisting of the operating system plus the security program(s), as a whole) that works.

after 8 hours of use

I must say that I'm very happy that they reduced the I/O writes+read+other to half + no sudden CPU spikes

and I still cant find the proper setting for file and registry setting, ah I'm noob

 

Hmmm... but previous look was far more attractive IMO.

I agree! Been looking forward for this final Emisoft "integration". If they get this product well integrated with their antimalware program, they will have a killer suite

 

Blasev, about the registry shield you can for example protect the registry keys about product licence. Or protect some folders (photos, documents).

 

I have the OA++ RC running here. Only 1 issue so far...you still need to exclude Chrome in OA in order to run Chrome with Sandboxie.

 

It makes sense, I don't know how anyone could expect 3 sandboxes to work together. It's a prime example of overlap and conflicts. My personal opinion is that, considering Chrome has what has, so far at least, proven to be a pretty good system in place as far as sandboxing/security, perhaps Sandboxie isn't needed so much (on Chrome mind you, all other browsers, keep it).

 

Having OA monitor Chrome while using Sandboxie is no doubt overkill! However, I am not sure which combination is more secure...OA and Chrome or Sandboxie and Chrome. For the time being at least, I am running Chrome and Sandboxie and excluding Chrome in OA.

 

If I were to choose, I'd pick Sandboxie and Chrome sandbox. That's not, however, a knock on OA, which I have found to be a good program.
