On my budget smartphone I use Dr.Web Free. I tried to switch to Avast Mobile Security, but Avast would hang. So I switched back to Dr.Web Free. On my ASUS Android Tablet, I use Avast Mobile Security and it works OK.
Bitdefender Free - very light, not buggy like their PC freebie and the Android system is pretty much bulletproof anyway.
Been using TrustGo for the past four months, seems to be ok so far, so will stick with this for the time being.
I had a cool thing happen the other day with my mobile security app, that I didn't know that it did. I have a work phone that is encrypted and has a required password to unlock the phone. I use Lookout on this phone. Well, I just had to do a required change of the password and I forgot the new password. So, I had to try it multiple times to try to unlock it. I finally got it unlocked and a couple minutes later I got an email. The email was from Lookout and had an attachment. The email said something about "unauthorized attempt to access your device" and "we have taken a picture of the unauthorized attempt/person". The attachment was a picture of me trying to unlock the device! I don't remember this being a feature of Lookout. Do others have this feature?
After 3 e-mails they finally fixed it. The problem was that they didn't sent me the license even though they billed me and confirmed the order, i waited 48 hours since the order detail said that it should arrive in that timeframe but it never arrived so i had to submit a support ticket. Im a happy camper now.
I'm back to running no antivirus on my Android phone. My phone suddenly stopped charging and I will have to send it back to China to be fixed. The replacement phone I'm using until my next phone arrives in the mail, has only very limited memory, which hinders performance a lot so I don't want increase memory use by having an antivirus running. I don't feel any particular need to run an antivirus under Android anyway.
Thanks. It's hassle having to send it back to China, but the seller is highly rated on Aliexpress so I don't think I will have any problems with getting the replacement. Of course there are lots of stories you come across on the internet of people who send defective goods back to China, only to be lied to by the seller and be told that they never received the goods.
So what is everyone running these days on their Android devices? I am still using Bitdefender, but eh. Looking for something different. Thanks.
I believe it was 10 bucks US. (Yearly sub) I currently have all protections enabled. The GUI is layed out quite nicely IMO.
I'm still using Avast!, purchased the yearly subscription. Works great, i always test most of the features to make sure it works properly. Remote picture works, web interface commands works, GPS geofencing works, SMS command works . . . everything works perfectly, so i purchased it. I'm saying this because i've used another Android AV in the past and it was quite buggy, sometimes it would work and other times it would not. (Kaspersky)
Nice I may check it out. Have they added the ability to locate from a web browser yet or is it still just SMS commands only?
