MBAM PRO Download at CNET infected

So at the end it was just a false alarm?

 

It wasn't a false alarm when I clicked Run and all hell broke loose. Any how, I installed it from Majorgeeks and it went smooth.

 

I try to avoid anything from cnet. I've noticed they have started locating download buttons for other ads
and programs way too close to the actual download button you need to click and I know several people who
have clicked the wrong download button and ended up with something else.
I'm sure this is done on purpose.

A coworker recently had this happen with a Ccleaner download and whatever he ended up with wanted money
to clean up his PC.

 

I'll say again, MBAM should host their own downloads.
Can anyone tell me why they don't?
I view it as a responsibility they should assume.

Yes, you are totally right!

The only thinkable reason they use their downloader is to trick you in downloading piggyback software.

It might be a good idea for anti malware to add to the feature list a: "Piggyback software preventer-remover". And call it just like that.

Since there are no legal problems to prevent pop-ups,
or to have uninstaller , this must not be hard to do. (legally)

Personally i don't like the idea that
you download anti malware software and end up with unwanted, unasked for software on your pc.

CNET or download.com is no longer the place to be for me.
