    There is always some overlap between anti malware and anti virus applications. But, may be yeah you re right, in some aspects. Malwarebytes cannot deal with boot sector infectors or remove the added code and make the executable to be back at its original condition. Simply, it does not do everything that an AV program is supposed to do..but can be said a type of AV program, not a major AV.
