I haven't tried a bootable USB flash drive yet, but for some reason my laptop will not boot from a disk. It will play CDs so Windows does see the DVD drive but for some reason it won't boot from disks. Never had this issue before. Any suggestions? Thanks.
It won't boot at all now. I try to boot from DVD or SSD it says, "Remove disk or other media. Press any key to restart". Ouch!
Have the DVD drive to be the first device in the boot sequence and test. Or when starting access the Boot screen and manually select the DVD drive to be booted up from. Your DVD disc might be bad, clean it and It might work. If it's badly scratched, or still not working, just make a copy and use that instead. Regards.

I have had this happen on DVD's that can be mounted to view the files but refuse to boot. I never found out why that can happen but burning a new DVD has been the fix that worked up to now.
After fighting with it I'm back in business. It looks like the DVD was crappy. I tried booting from an old faithful Macrium Reflect 6.3 disk - success!
I noticed that when I created new recovery disks there was an update for Macrium Reflect - 7.1.2619. I wonder if that had anything to do with it too?
