Recently installed Kerio 2.15 as a prospective replacement for Comodo 2.4. ( I ran a .bat file after uninstalling Comodo to remove its "leftovers'').
Everything seemed good, except the Windows Security centre doesn't register the fact that a firewall is installed. Tried resetting the wbem repository, still no luck.
Anyone know why this may be happening?
Using XP home, SP3, fully patched.

Windows security center will not recognize Kerio 2.15. Kerio was around long before the Security Center showed up and still works as a firewall should. The newer programs that have come after the Security Center was implemented are programmed to let the Security Center know they are there.

I don't want to recommend some registry cleaner to clear away the remains of it, but i experienced the exact same issue AFTER i had already uninstalled an AV for another one before. The Security Center of Windows kept showing the AV i already uninstalled. So i would be curious like you what can be done to dismiss the old app from Windows Security Center so that it shows the new one, or none at all.

ronjour, thanks for that. Suspected that may be the case. Apart from disabling the security centre to report on the firewall status, do you know of any workaround?

Easter, did you try clearing the repository after uninstalling the AV?

I would simply disable the alert Tarq57. Kerio 2.15 will never be recognized by the security center as it is no longer supported.

    Thankyou muchly.
Now to browse some of the Kerio setup/rules threads.
I think I might be liking this firewall, if I can learn enough to get it configured.
Firewall rules generally are one of my weak points.

Kerio 2.1.5 has a great and classic rules interface. It's still a good solid firewall. The link in the sticky Ronjor posted above is the best source of information on Kerio 2.1.5 also.

It's no big deal that security center does not recognize it. I think some firewalls sorta cheat in the way they get security center to recognize their product. As described above, you can remove them and security center still thinks they are installed and active. So basically security center is not a reliable method to determine your firewall status, and could lead to a false sense of security in some scenarios for some people.
