So I am trying the trial version right now, and I read in the FAQ that you can set up a scheduled task to scan your entire system. But do you really need to with Amon? It seems that it slowly scans your entire system anyway...

    Hi Nod32 Newbie,

    Welcome to the forum!!

Well, no, it's not really doing that. If you are referring to the fact that there is a count showing the total files scanned (see image below), that is constantly increasing in the Amon window, that is not a background scan of your system. It is Nod32 scanning the files that your system is actually accessing.

That count keeps going up because your system runs many things, usually more than just the main application you are using at any particular moment. (Windows can run a lot in the background.) So, that count only refers to things that are being accessed, not all the files stored on your system.

Opinions differ regarding just how often you need to do a full system scan, (such as what you might put into a scheduled task), but once a week certainly wouldn't hurt. Some people run full scans nightly. Some people run full scans manually when they feel the need. And some people never run full scans. (As I said, opinions differ on this.)

You may want to start with a weekly scan and see what you think about it after doing it a while.

    Best Wishes,
    LowWaterMark
