Changing out my Imaging software want to see what everyone recommends. Lets not do A vs B just recommend what you think works best and leave it at that don't downgrade another product. ;)

What have you been using, and why do you want to change? I've used Acronis True Image for a long time, and I'm always satisfied with it. I still use v9.0, and have not felt the need to upgrade. Many, many years ago I used PowerQuest's Drive Image. Remember that one? Anyway, count me as one of the people who have good things to say about ATI. :thumb:

Right now I use Acronis. But I wont get into why I want to change it out as all it will do is lead to a A vs B ;) Just looking at other imaging software.

Maybe this would be one of those times when everyone kept a civil tongue in their head and the thread stayed on topic! Nah! What was I thinking?

I have 7 years in with Acronis on multiple computers with no reason to change. Reasonably fast, works in the background, never had a failure. Last upgrade was for Vista; will probably just buy an upgrade when I have to switch to W7. A different one would just get me into understanding failure modes, if any-I already know how to run Acronis with no issues. But this is just for a few laptops; YMMV.

    Hi Everyone
Use Clonezilla , the best cloning/Imaging software around, heres a link that explains exactely what it is caple of doing, http://www.reviewingit.com/index.php/content/view/54/2/ only caveat is its based on open source live cd, so if your a windows person you might get a bit intimidated, you have to think what you want to do, instead of clicking Cheers

This is what I use and like a lot. It's speedy and reliable, one of those "it just works" kind of products, and quite feature-rich too but not to the extent Acronis is.

Yes, and I have found recent versions to be very bloated and very system-invasive. Imho Ghost 2003 was the last good Ghost (it's main limitation was that it didn't do incremental/differential images).

As for me, I love Drive Snapshot. It's a very small executable that's light on resources and it's portable (very few others like it). We use it where I work and it's never failed to do the job. It's main drawback is that it doesn't come with a live Windows boot disk, but you can download the free UBCD4Win or BartPE to bootup (when necessary) and since DS is a truly portable app you can run it from just about anywhere! :thumb:

    It's just a feature review...

The most important thing -Reliability -was not tested...
Of course to be honest i don't know if it will ever be on such a large scale ,with so many products, and on many system configurations...
User experiences ,most posted here are more informative IMO

Currently using on my main PC Macrium Reflect full edition hasn't let me down. runs great under x64 windows

on my laptop I use Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition again does the job and hasn't let me down, lack's individual file backup but as a straight imaging app it works a treat.

I have been using Image for Windows/Image for DOS/Image for Linux for about 1 year. I am pleased with them. If you image to DVD(s), they are automatically made "bootable" making it very easy to restore from DVD(s).

For free, I recommend Macrium Reflect. For paid, ShadowProtect. Both have worked well for me. I have used ShadowProtect for 3 years with zero problems. Its been 100% stable for me. Macrium is solid, but you won't get all the extra functions with the free version.

Been trialling Image for windows this past week.
Whilst not quite as easy as other imaging programs are to use it is very fast.
Quite like the image for dos now i am getting used to using it, every backup and restore has been flawless to date.
Still early days but this has been my favourite imaging program that i have ever trialled.

I'm trying the imaging software that came with Windows 7, It seems to work and restore just fine. Used it 3 times in the past 24 hours and restores have been flawless.
