I don't see a way to have VU automatically deal with detected threats. Also, how are missed detections and false positives submitted?

Processes run over 100K and scan is very slow. Nice little program but not sure what the big deal is.

Yeah it does take up a bit of RAM. I installed the trial today. Scan was not too bad on my machine. Took about 25 minutes. Very simplistic gui. Some of it looks a bit old school.

Not sure if I would use it as my daily driver. Depends on detection rate and removal.

I did a quick scan which was not too bad but I don't really rely on on-demand scans anyway so the time they take for me irrelevant. However, the memory usage does seem excessive to me.

Ikarus does have great detection though. :thumb:

That's about how much RAM it was taking up on my machine as well.

contact our support and send them the supportlogfile

they can tell you what makes the scan slow. normally there are some process and or programms that make the scan slow and last but not least the performance of the hardware (a 5200 RPM HD is much slower than 7200).
which Rams do you use (100k is really much) - when i do a scan the software uses between 18 up to 20k.

I had high memory usage as well.

Trjam, what kinda memory usage are you seeing on your machines?

You are aware that your product uses more than one process, right? And the file guard process definitely does not use any 18-20 K, but rather like 5 times that much. I am not saying that is necessarily a bad thing - a well coded program that uses a lot of RAM is often smoother because it doesn't have to load from disk all the time - but RAM usage of Ikarus is not 20 K, whether that is a good thing or not.

I see around 130K as well. (and the same amount in VM)
Scan was quite slow here too.
I'll probably go back to WSA soon.

you are right - i forgot the quardxservice ;-)
this one is running with about 140k because our virus database is loaded in the ram (for quicker scans) -our scanner guys told me.

Then the high RAM usage probably makes it lighter and faster instead of slower. :thumb:

And 140 K should not be an issue today, in any case.

Though the scan didn't seem blazing fast it was certainly tolerable. I would rather use the RAM and have faster performance than the alternative.

Same as Androids, people always worry about ram usage but what they don't know is that it makes it works smoother :D

that is why I said Ikarus is very light. Literally no impact on computer at all.
