I am always on the lookout for good disk cleaners, "wipe your tracks" kind of software. (Never did find or hear a suggestion on one for XP that gets it all... I think we are a ways away from that!) But if you are running Win9X/Me, I found a program that works as advertised and is very good. It is called TRACKS ERASER PRO and can be found at www.acesoft.net ...

Several things I like about this compared to what I've been using (Window Washer and a couple of others):
It actually finds registry entries that others don't with file names. Very nice. Also, the simplicity in their "configuration" tab to configure your own path to registry entries (which can be very cumbersome to even do with other programs) is very sweet. They call it a "plug-in maker" but it's simple as can be. The program comes with a generous number of application cleanup plug-ins and you can download more from the website. It has a 10+ pass wipe that erases file names as well.

It is well worth the free trial (fully functional) download to try it out. Be sure to download the "PRO" version. I would be curious to see what others think. For me, it's a keeper.

By the way, I am always using a different proxy to surf the web and don't mess with the services that do it for you. If anyone is interested, I have a URL with proxies that are updated daily. They always work and some are blazing fast. Some are "test addresses" used by techs in the field for troubleshooting nodes. There are several I have used for LONG periods of time that work great. Some come from Asia where it looks like you are visiting from Singapore or something. Anyway, it's a great daily updated list with all the "junk" weeded out. If you're interested, IM me with a request.

Meanwhile, give Tracks Eraser PRO a shot!

Hey luv2b...Nice call...and it's compatible with XP - just what I like and need, very comprehensive but easy enough for the brain-dead.  Thanks for that one!  Rickster.

    Hi Rickster!

Glad you like it. Something else I didn't mention is it works with OPERA - cleaning up Opera's leftovers.

I look at these all the time and find this to be really good. Most are junk.

    Take care,
    John

    Luv2B,

Here is an app you will love, if your into being tidy.
Purgeie at http://www.purgeie.com . Lot of great features.
There is a trail period, then  $14.95.  A bargain.
    Supports IE-6  &  Win-XP.
You can clean out the trash on the fly, without closing Win.
    Take a look.

  5. I just looked at IEPurge and cannot see it as an effective security tool in any way. I would like to hear what John (Luv2Be) has to say about it. The program offers no security options for number of file wipes or anything that would make me feel secure. It may keep things "tidy" but it doesn't keep my computer "cleansed" and that's how I like it. I also found the interface very different to say the least. It cannot hold a candle to Window Washer, IEClean, or the program that John pointed us to the other day which I have found very useful. I can't think of the name of it now. Tracks Eraser Pro. I just looked. That program is very good. IEPurge has a lot of work to do to make it a security tool rather than just a cleanup utility. I have been lurking at this forum for weeks and feel like I know you all. I will soon be registering. Thankls for the opportunity to post.  David Dean

I finally got around to looking at IEpurge and I have to agree with 21stCentury. It's a good cleanup app, but doesn't quite do it as a security application. Just my seven pesos.
