I don't know of any imaging utilites that support dynamic discs. D.D. is a Windows thing, so it cannot be recognized outside of Windows, thereby making any restorations impossible. Consider this an invitation to dump D.D.;)

    Hi,

dynamic disks are only supportet by TrueImage Server editions (Server and EnterpriseServer) and even then it is only possible to image to file and restore the image as basic disk.

So you have to make more steps in case of a system-crash and the need to recover your data, but it works and the integrity of your data is worth it.

Man am I confused if you look at this link
    http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISWin/faq.html#9
and click on the eighth (8th) frequently asked question down from the top you will see this
Does Acronis True Image 8.0 Server for Windows support Windows LDM (dynamic disks)?
Yes, Acronis True Image 8.0 Server for Windows supports Windows LDM (also called Dynamic Disks). You can create an image of a volume of any type and later restore the imaged volume back to a dynamic or basic disk. There is one restriction however: if you want to restore a system volume (that is a volume where OS files reside), the archive must not reside on a dynamic volume. Non-system volume images can be restored from anywhere.
I really need this to work on a Win2k server with dynamic disks in a mirror configuration and it seems that as long as the image "archive" (i take that to mean the .tib file is not on a dynamic disk then I should be able to restore this image just fine. Or am I still misunderstanding something.

As long as your windows server system is running, you can backup AND recover dynamic disk from within windows with no problem with True Image Server.

But: if your system fails you have to use the RescueMedia. This media boots into a linux based environment and this environment does not support dynamic disks. So if you store the image of your systemdrive on an external USB drive or a basic disk you can recover your system and once windows is running you can recover images which are stored on a dynamic disk.
