Welcome to the future, where newer is always better. Or is it? Here's a tutorial showing how to run customized installations of newer version of the Microsoft Office suite using the Office Deployment Tool, covering XML configuration file and application exclusions, download and setup, and more. Because GUI is so 2000. Take a look.

Nice guide. It’s tedious and stupid on MS’ part then I came across Office Tool Plus which has a GUI. Pick your Office suite from the dropdown list. Tick what Office programs you want and it will do the XML configuration file for you and install, all automated. Will even download Office for you from Microsoft servers if you don’t already have it.
