    I used the Ad-aware program,
I kept receiving pop-up ads as I browsed the net, from e.g. xadsq.optimizer.com, incredifind, ShopAtHome, ilead.itrack and had some files called VGroup, VCom and VBouncer that I didn't recognise.

    Here's my HijackThis log:

I've just noticed that I have 'ShopAtHome Select Agent' still in my add/remove section and it won't budge! I've also got a file called 'updaterInstall_112' on my hard drive. How can I get rid of them, plus what other files can you find that I need to remove and how do I do it?!

    Hi Sabz,

    Welcome to Wilders.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://uk.red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/btyahoo/defaults/sb/*http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/info/bt_side.html

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,Shellnext = http://estore.sonic.com/upgrades/purchase.asp?srnm=&lang=ENU&id=39
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - (no file)
    O1 - Hosts: 12.129.205.209 search.netscape.com12.129.205.209 sitefinder.verisign.com

    O2 - BHO: LBBHO - {EFD84954-6B46-42f4-81F3-94CE9A77052D} - C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Belt] C:\WINDOWS\Belt.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [updater] C:\Program Files\Common files\updater\wupdater.exe

    O16 - DPF: {A0F0D762-D1DE-43AF-B70E-D87864743EB3} (NSLiteUpdateCtrl Class) - http://217.145.76.16/nslite/nslite.cab

Download CWShredder and run. Be sure ALL other windows are closed use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

There also may be hidden files. See HERE for how to show hidden files.

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

    C:\WINDOWS\lbbho.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Belt.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common files\updater\ <-- entire folder

Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log.

    Regards,
    Kent
