    Ironic. The absolute first computer machine (not the room model monster) I laid eyes on of all things was a Compaq.

    Add to that I lived very near a Compaq company that eventually moved to a larger facility. My how time flies.

    I have a HP Compaq. It's has HP logos, but the product sticker on the underside says HP Compaq.

    No great loss. Compaq was famous for proprietary hardware and a lack of self upgrade options. I've seen claims that Tim Cook was largely responsible for it. They weren't a company that was going to sell me anything.
