Is there any reason why this small app must consume at least 7% of system resource while running in the backround?

FileChecker should not be consuming that much of your system resources during normal operation - assuming that you do not have checksum checking enabled.

If you have a very large number of files in the watch list, or you have checksum checking enabled, you will see the system resources taken up by FileChecker increase (as it has to scan a large number of files rather quickly - or, because checksum checking uses a lot of the system resources - while every effort has been made to minimize the effect on the system while checksum checking is going on, it still uses a significant amount of cpu power).
