It was likely the intention at the start to chart new and even more clever inroads into those user's lives of that social platform.

People talk as if you have to use this. You do not. So don't.

I have an account, but it's been sitting idle for over a year, and many of my family members, shuttered their accounts after fb's recent scandal.

Used to be drugs that kept our youth self centered. Now it's fb. We have a better (sic) world because of fb. :gack:

There's a special place awaiting those with great resources that don't help those in need. Whether that is enough or as soon as they can. The greater resources the more special that place will be.

FB panders to nothing but the self absorbed me generation. The narcissism will eventually come to a sticky end as it always does.

It turns out that Facebook could in fact use data collected from its Portal in-home video device to target you with ads

Hardly doubt that really means anything to abundantly wealthy Zuck personally. Likely will happen and Fb will chart another course as usual. The boy can retire well off and pass any ambition on to his family in total comfort.

I've successfully kept the immediate family and some neighbors and kids off of facebook. My good deed for the year!

Would it be a wonderful world if everybody who uses fb, twit, insta etc. etc. just disappeared?

Well, a huge part of the world's population would disappear, so I'm with you there.

I believe everyone should switch to mewe if they are going to use Social Media. I believe they value their member's privacy. They claim to not share member data of any kind with anyone. They appear to not even use Google adware on their site, or platform.

My own experience with mewe is that they really appear to value member's privacy. They even have account settings that hide your profile from their own search results. The only problem I had with mewe is hardly any of my friends use it. Maybe someday everyone will dump Facebook, and use a privacy platform like mewe instead.

    Controlled
    Exploited
    Bored
    Overrated
