If I do an incremental backup and then have to do a full restore, does Acronis check for deleted files between the full and incremental backups?

    Thanks.

Answering based on logic not knowledge. How would TI know about them? Incremental looks for files created since the backup. It would not, I think, pay any attention to what might no longer be there.

Doing File & Folder backups using build 2323 I have found that TI 9 does check for deleted files but its not appearent in the file list presented during recovery. For example, say that during your initial full backup of My Documents this folder contains the files A.txt and B.txt. A little while latter you do an incremental backup of My Documents after you delete A.txt and add C.txt. After the second backup you go to Recovery and select the older backup (i.e., the initial full backup). In the file list you will see A.txt and B.txt but not C.txt. This is good and what you'd expect. If you select A.txt B.txt for recovery they will be recovered. So far so good. However, if you select the newer backup (i.e., the first incemental backup) you will see A.txt, B.txt and C.txt. I would expect to see B.txt and C.txt but not A.txt. TI 9 will allow you to select these three files for recovery but when the recovery is complete only B.txt and C.txt will have been recovered. So the recovery worked properly, only recovering the files that were in the selected increment but it gave the appearance that a A.txt, a deleted file, was in that increment.

If you try the same exercise using image backups instead of file-level backups and plug each of the images you will see the correct files for each image. The older image will have A.txt and B.txt. The newer image will have B.txt and C.txt. So image backups seem to understand how to handle increments better.

The question is (as I understand it): if you do a full restore and then restore your incremental, will the deleted files be gone. I doubt it but would like to hear from Acronis or someone with an exact answer.
