Wow! That looks like a sexist statement.

No wonder the fairer sex feel intimidated by male techno-geeks. :D

    Blacksheep,

Not at all; Lori is a common male name in Europe  :D. Are you implying I am intimidating the male sex?

mmm.."fairer sex" : that sounds like a sexist statement

    regards.

  12. o_ODo I remember my first time? For what? Allowing a virus to fry my hard drive?   It happened so fast it made my head spin - and I never even opened an attachment, just clicked on a name!  ;)

I thought that I had a virus interceptor in place, but low and behold, it was nowhere to be found! I now have Norton on here, and it seems to be doing a good job! :-*

I am not exactly a rocket scientist, and probably have little of value in here beyond my credit card number!  o_OI would not know a Trojan if it sat on me!  :-/ Would it be some sort of a firewall?  :-/

I guess a girl better find out these things if DSL is in her future! Right?

there is a real nice free trojan detector that you can get right here....call  "Ants"    very easy to install...an can detect 1602 differant trojans......go for it girl!

               you do have a firewall...right!!

just re-read your post..where you asked if a trojan was some sort of a firewall......a firewall protects your computer......a trojan distroys it or uses it.

if you don't have a firewall....imo its definitely not a good idea to store any personal information on you computer....fe: financial information.   a hacker can access a computer without a firewall quicker than you can put butter on toast.

Carolina, what kind of trojan are we talking about?       :D

  16. :DHow can I let THAT go unchallenged?

:eek:Went shopping for Trojans today! Came back with a large box! It does not rattle when I shake it!

Do I really need a firewall before I get DSL?

Hi Lori/Carolina, welcome to the forums :D

Hope you can pick up valuable information in your quest for PC security.

There's nearly always somebody on that can help.

Just don't get too close to those trojans, might get a headache otherwise. :doubt:

    Cheers, TAS
