Biggest bug fixing release since the official release!
    Enjoy

Only 1 or 2 bugs should be left now so comodo can focus on some really nice innovations now :D.

This seems interesting but i haven't seen it yet so i will post screenshots tommorrow.

Good Improvements and especially bug repairs, hopefully all of the remaining ones can be vanquished finally and it will then be settled once and for all.

Is it possible to opt out during the installation? I hope so.

Ok, i will answer to myself. From what i read in Comodo's forum, you can't opt out, you have to disable it after the installation.

The Comodo Memory firewall is incorporated in the toolbar, which also serves for shopping and if you use the toolbar for searching, shopping etc, Comodo will get some income.

    As poster MikeH posted:

Well, i would have prefered to opt-out during installation. The marketing model of Comodo is a bit weird for my taste. I guess one must trust Comodo that the toolbar won't act as adware or spyware, because having it inside your firewall, would make it unstoppable.

Well, personally i never been a fan of adding any ad encourgement toolbar in a security app unless it's purpose is strickly to serve as protection purposes only, but will monitor it closely should it consider to pose a nusance of any kind like tracking and such.

Besides i NEVER buy anything advertised from any toolbars because i seen too many of them take away attention from users to entice them to bug up their PC's with rotating advertisements.

I'm not indicting Comodo's choice to include it, but toolbars have long been a source of problems when i was Moderator at Lavasoft Support Forums, but i'm relatively confident this just isn't the case with Comodo's decision on it, and i think their well aware of that fact and history of them.

Pretty sure Comodo could have found a way to give users BO protection without using a toolbar - the main purpose of which is usually to provide sponsored searches.

I certainly won't be installing it.

I agree. And i don't think that they chose by accident to put the toolbar in the versions with the "most bugfixes yet" either. The same happened with the first version that included the on demand scanner (pretty useless since it doesn't update the definitions). In both cases they selected a major bugfix release, to include a new "feature" that would bring them money. In this way, most users installed the new version in order to get the bugfixes (together with the 20MB bloat of the AV scanner).

Of course it's their right to do whatever pleases them, but although i do respect their product as a firewall-HIPS, i don't appreciate much their general marketing policy and behaviour.

If i decide to install Comodo, i will certainly disable this toolbar as fast as i can.

In the meatime, i will stick with Returnil and PCTools firewall.

I hate the toolbars. Very bad that there is no option to opt out during install. It,s a wrong move, tottaly wrong by Comodo. I think I will wait until they release a version with ioption to opt out.

You CAN opt out during installation!!

Also, The Malware Scanner in Defense+ (Scan My System), Now checks for definition updates before scanning.

Re: COMODO Firewall Pro 3.0.23.364 Released!

    A couple questions-

    1. So if I want to install Comodo without having to get the toolbar installation it is best to find an older version of Comodo, install and upgrade? (I am assuming just go to filehippo);

    2. I have DEP enabled as well as an option under IE7 tools, internet options, advanced--> "Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks". So does the Comodo Memory Firewall really offer any benefit to me? I kinda doubt it.

No, based on what 3exist wrote, which wasn't written yet when i went to Comodo's forum today, you can use the current version and during installation opt-out. So the toolbar won't be installed.

So, i wasn't right to judge them before. I was misled by this: "is compatible with all major browsers and can be separately uninstalled or disabled at any time after installation."

Apparently, based on Melih's comments, you can also not install it at all.

Nothing in his comments that u can opt out even in a fresh install. I always do a fresh install, updates are not so reliable for me.

Aigle, read Melih's reply No. 48 here:

    http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackco...all_pro_3023364_releasedegemen-t23124.45.html

They could have made it clearer to understand, but give the question to which Melih is replying, i think that we can safely say that during installation you can opt-out.

I must admit that I was surprised and do not like it. What will be next? I like the Comodo a lot and recommend the product to others.

I have always seen Comodo as ""Free forever, no catch no kidding"-software, but now - i don't realy know.o_O

I still have confidence in Comodo, but I am afraid that the next step will be a some form of payment.

I hope that i'm wrong, but I am concerned about it.:)

I don,t think payment is bad. Infact I like it to be paid rather than this fishy model of toolbars and malware free warranty etc( watever it is)! Paid or free. Nothing in between.

I agree. Personally i don't care about the memory firewall, but some folks out there really want it as an extra protection. For those folks, i think it would be nice to have the opportunity of getting the memory firewall without the "search and buy" stuff incorporated in the same firewall. And i think many would actually pay for it.

Anyway, running fine. It is actually running better on my system than the previous version. Everything feels more quick. And yes, they fixed the recognition of digital signatures which was broken in the last version and was a major annoyance!

I'think payment is bad if you can get the same kind of functionality for free. ;) Like HIPS or other stuff that you can get with Comodo Pro.

But, i can see two problems here. One, sneaky transition to payment end two, as you say, the way they are introducing new "features".

Why would they do that, when they can get it for free?:)

I know there was/is(?) the standalone version too, but since they decided to incorporate it to Comodo Firewall, i would think that the standalone version won't be updated anymore? Or not?

If they intend to keep updating the standalone CMF, then why would someone prefer to have that ugly toolbar instead of installing the "clean" CMF? o_O

Yes, that's something that i'm concern about, too. Are we going to get some kind of new MyWebComodoSearch or what?;)
