    Hello there,

I have a Dell Latitude E4600 laptop with a 250GB SATA harddisk with two partitions on it - one primary for the OS and a recovery Dell partition.

When I try to resize the primary partition it says that the minimum size is 140GB and I cannot make it smaller even though there is more than 200GB available.

Also it states in the list of partitions that the primary partition has 0 bytes of free space, despite more than 200 GB is available.

I have tried to create a bootable CD and attempted the resize operation from there but it still says that minimum size is 140GB.

    Any clues?

    Thank you in advance

You could try the following two things:

    1. Run chkdsk /f on the disk to be sure that there are no file system irregularities
    2. Defragment the partition thoroughly

After doing the above, try the resize operation again.
