I recently subscribed to a couple of magazines for reading on my new Kindle Fire.

I went to cancel one of the subscriptions and noticed that Amazon had automatically opted me in to using my email address for marketing purposes.

The good news was that I could opt out - but only because I looked at my account settings. When I subscribed to those magazines, Amazon never asked my preferences.

Word to the wise - check your Amazon account settings.

I've ordered from Amazon a few times a while ago. One thing I never liked was that after I completed the order, I'd alway have to log back in and remove all my payment information because it kept this stuff in the account easily read by anyone who simply logs in. I did not approve. :thumbd:

This is weird. Amazon (UK) never remembers my payment details. To be honest I don't remember if I configured it this way when I created the account, or if it's their policy, but no sensitive details seem to be stored.
