Using Avira 12 (high heuristics) and just updated iTunes today. Just started a system scan and it detected iTunes as malware.

Just wondering if anyone thinks this is a false positive.

If you got Itunes from a safe site then yes it is an FP. Also higher heuristics cause more false positives.

Sorry guys, but I actually lol'ed on this one.

I agree with cheater87, as long as you've downloaded it from a safe site, you should be fine. To be sure, download a second opinion scanner (like MBAM, Hitman Pro, etc.) and rescan your PC.

I agree, having a second scanner or even a third scanner will help eliminate accidentally deleting a file from a valuable program .

o_O I have Avira12 set at high heuristics and the latest iTunes and I don't get this detection. I did an MBAM scan today also and I'm clean as a whistle. subferno
I'm sure they would like to have a look at your scan log over at the Avira forum.

I was surprised myself when the alert came up.

I updated Avira today and did a system scan. Nothing came up. I tried looking in my logs to see if any of the reports were still present. Either I looked at the wrong place or it was never recorded.

iTunes is malware.. its probably some of the worst written software for windows by a large company. Sometimes I feel Apple did it on purpose :)
