Wow. Whats up with mcafee? Haven't seen them in the top 5 in quite some time.

I believe this is the first time false positives are impacting ratings for on-demand reports. Avira, Avast!, and BitDefender negatively impacted.
Another great job by IBK and colleagues!!

tbh, i really dont care about FP's, i can deal with them. maybe not the average user, but its fine with me.

Congratulations Symantec, McAfee, Kaspersky and ESET :thumb:

Special congratulations to Sophos, the first time I've ever seen them have an ultra low FP rate! :thumb:

Avira has more than 2% difference in detection(a staggering 25,498 detections more) compared to KAV and Nod. It has more FPs than KAV and Nod but not that MANY more. I still think Avira is on top.

Biggest surprise is how well McAfee did (both detection and FPs). Now if they can only make it lighter in impact on system performance. Also, nice to see NOD32's detection percentages going back up.

Anythingh above 5 false positives should labelled as average instead of few

I think we can agree to disagree, since that debate has been clubbed beyond death, different types of people etc, etc, I won't go into it.

On a smaller test I would agree, but I think you need to put it into proportion a bit with the amount of malware scanned.

    DUDE, that's just flame bait...

Much better site layout and test, especially with the descriptions and listing all the false positives.

Kaspersky and Symantec, no surprise seeing them in the top. Avira was 10 FPs off being in the top, no big deal out of 1.3 million samples. Same with bitdefender, escan and Avast.

Definitely the surprise (for me) was McAfee. Great stuff.

Props to Symantec. They just keep on truck'in. McAfee is one to watch except I have quite a few bad memories of using them.

I have some memories too, but the enterprise version gives me some good ones, straight-forward to use.

I'm assuming any slowdown with the new version shouldn't be a problem if you have enough memory.

I wouldn't go changing AV's over 1 comparative, these numbers are up and down every year. Just use the one you're comfortable with.

    gratz to eset,symantec and KL.
eset's heristics are are on top form.
kaspersly's heristics sure have improved fast. the new heristics only came out with the V7 line and have already caught up with nod32 im impressed.
ultimate signiture detection plus ultimate heristics plus hips is the ideal combo.
im wondering where vipre would come.
