    Hello all,

I am posting this because it may be of interest to AOL users (I have never used AOL nor do I intend to).

It seems that AOL has a class action suit against them and AOL has proposed a $15.5 million settlement.

To possibly share in this settlement, you must certify under oath that you installed and used AOL version 5.0 (released in the fall of 1999) and that you experienced difficulties using this software.

I got this info from my local paper in an ad that was ordered by the court.

If you are interested in this, I will be glad to e-mail you a copy of this (I will be glad to post it here if it is OK with the admins).  Just send me an e-mail or instant message and I will forward you a copy.

    Regards,
    Kent

    Hello Kent,

No problem at all. Take into account you might have to divide your post into two sections if it's a (very) long one: we have implemented a character-limit for posts.

    regards.

    Paul,

I will post it within the next couple of days if not sooner.  I have to scan the article first.

I just thought it was interesting that AOL would offer $15.5 million to settle   ;)  .

    Regards,
    Kent

Edit:  Just a thought.... If 15 million people used this version of AOL and they all filed claims....  You might get a whopping whole dollar out of this   :D  ........

    Bad news,my wife uses AOSmell.
Good news is after my main drive crashed where the Smell was located and I installed OS over again on new HD I decided not to reload smell on the PC.  I will load it on her laptop when we go wireless and thus be free of the smell.  Happy.

I would love to get a couple of bucks back from the Smell.  If I could just figure out the easy way to get her favorites and mine for that matter off the crashed HD.  3 years of favs, poof gone.  Bummin'.

What is the problem with AOL? I've been with them for well over a year and get no problems.

I really would like to know why so many people seem to have a bad thing going with them so if you can explain your comment Spec_Ops_Kendra then maybe I will have a better idea of what the deal is on this one.

i've always been curious about this too and have asked about it on other forums and probably even this forum before. i've been with them since they started up for the most part and have never used another isp. i have sort of concluded that if you're happy with it then stay with it. if not, then change. bob

    Thanks Pete

Interesting reading there...as I said, not had any problems myself but I'll keep a close look at things.

My only concern is the difficulty in getting spy block type software to work on their modified browser but I'm working on that one.
