    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of:

CNMSM5c.exe ZA flagged this sucker as wanting to act as a server. Could not find anything on it so I denied it several times.

    Happy New Year

As Kye-U alluded to....probably printer related and looking at the properties of the file might give the Company Name. Do you by chance use a Canon printer ?

Hi Guys, Yes I do have a Canon printer, but why would it need to act as a server?

    Thanks

dunno... I have never had any thing from my printers wanting to "checkout" unless for some reason you have a section enabled in options of it to check for update drivers, etc... but that does not address the issue really.

See if you can get into the Canon and if any options available to you. [control panel | printers/faxes | right click on printer | properties]

But the questions begs: How long has this happened, and how old is the printer, because if you have had the printer for quite a while, and all of a sudden this is happening, that's odd to say the least. :cautious:

What version Canon do you have? I currently have i320 and i550 models.

I just checked my Printers out, and nothing that I could see allowing them to go out is available. The only option is 'New Driver...' which you have to go to the home site to pick yourself. pic

*maybe* it's like a false positive o_O? report. guesses

Hi Tassie, I have the i960 Canon. My printer properities are exactly like your pic.. CNMSM5c.exe has been very persistent, in its quest to talk to another machine. I did notice PG alerted me, as well, CNMSM5c.exe was also denied from installing a driver/service. I think CNMSM5c has something to do with, windows print spooler. Anyway I have now allowed this file access.

    Thanks
