I can live without Google

 

No thanks. Whilst I don't feel the need to use any Google products (exc. Chromium), their position alone makes other companies improve theirs *cough* IE *cough*.

 

Makes sense, Chrome started the improvement of IE and Firefox.

 

I was just using Chrome as an example, there are other products made by companies that in turn make other companies improve their products, a.k.a. competition. So I'd personally not "live without Google" in the sense that I am glad they exist, or the products I use today would be very, very different.

 

i still haven't seen anything that does search as well as Google.
not the search results itself but the way you can sort out the results by dates and others.

same thing goes for Google Maps and Google News.

i don't use anything else form Google.
except of course Youtube.

 

You can't do search as good as Google without doing tracking as good as Google unfortunately.

Google what now? Never even heard of it, but I think I'll stick to BBC!

Agreed. That info really shouldn't matter, otherwise one would need to prove that it mattered and not only that the content of the arguments can also be false.

BTW, if you scroll down the page a little more, he talks about "Google services that are hard to live without". I agree with the YouTube addition on that list.

 

Google News simply aggregates stories from dozens of different sources; it really is quite good.

 

Google search can be easily replaced with Startpage or DuckDuckGo.
though i prefer Startpage because of the interface.

they both can be filtered by dates, which i think is pretty important.
