    Hello Forum,
Is there much of a difference between these two programs or is it just a personal thing.

I have never heard of Windows washer deleting system files and Ccleaner can and has.

    Hi Bigc73542,
So you are saying that CClean is a little bit dangerous to use.

both cover the major areas like temp files and internet cache, but they also have a few items not present in the other. for example, CCleaner can delete hotfix uninstallers.

    they also have unique features:

CCleaner has a registry cleaner, startup viewer, and it has a section similar to "Add or Remove Programs".

Window Washer can wipe free or slack space and u can create a floppy/CD for wiping drives.

ive used both without problems (that i know of) but always use caution.

its a bootable cd with software that will wipe data off ur hard disk(s).

Wiping data is the process of complete erasing data on your hard drive.

it particularly helpful if u dont want files to be recovered when u give ur hard disk away.

I have personally had it delete three system files which caused a full reformat and restore. I won't ever have it on my computer again.

Can someone tell me if Window Washer is suppose to wash the entire hard drive, or only files of the user account in which WW is run?

CCleaner is loaded on my PC, but CC only cleans files for the user account in which it is run. For my weekly PC maintenance, I have had to log into all four user accounts and run CCleaner in each one to clean the entire PC, a very time consuming process.

I downloaded the current trial version 6.0 of WW (with 9 days to go) thinking WW cleaned all user files in one pass (I run WW from the Admin user account). The other night after running WW, I logged onto my son's user account, ran CCleaner, and CCleaner cleaned up 57 MB.

So with WW am I back to having to run the program in each user account to clean the entire PC hard drive?

    Thanks, Stro
