Is WSA AV compatible with Emsisoft AM? Are there any known conflicts? I have a six month trial of WSA AV from facebook, so I thought I might give it a try.

    What do you guys reckon?

P.S. Does WSA AV use windows firewall?

Yes. And it has its own firewall that you use in conjunction with the windows firewall. I have found WSA has progressed very well, to the point I use it by itself.

Plus I know Joe and team have some more enhancements coming. WSA is a very well developed product that only gets better and better. Just like EAM.

It's running well alongside Emsisoft so far, but it seems very quiet and lazy to me. I have thrown so many nasty links at it from malwareblacklist, but nothing happened. Only Emsisoft was doing all the work.

You may not want to do that on your HOST machine that you use every day. Some of those links are exploits that don't require downloads. If your AV software does not have signatures and you have older versions of software, its very possible you can/will infect yourself by mistake.

I don't favour webroot software, they have terrible signatures compared to almost everyone. Which can be seen in recent/whole year testing.

You dont understand how WSA works, WSA give priority to the first RT scanner (EAM in our case) for detection & removal, WSA activate itself only if the EXECUTED malware is missed by EAM. WSA is specialized against active malwares not passsive one.

Yes, new versions are pushed out automatically and silently. I usually find out when I point the mouse at the tray icon and it shows a new version number. I don't remember it ever asking for a reboot.

Not sure, but I'd recommend picking it up on sale if possible. I got it from Frys which regularly offers security software for free (or near free) after rebate.

You can renew from the 'My Account' tab which takes you to the renewal page. The renewal price is discounted (but always check that it has been recalculated correctly as currently version capabilities have changed with the redefining of the versions).

WSA is far and away the best anti-malware product I've used. Light, powerful and unobtrusive. In fact, it finally settled the yearning for something better I'd always feel when using other anti-malware solutions.

The way it was designed just makes sense: compatibility with third-party products, only stepping in when needed; having an outbound only firewall as Windows Firewall is perfectly adequate handling inbound connections; scanning only areas that need scanning, not every file on the PC (realising that malware is only effective when executed); watching new files to see how they behave, before deciding what to do with them, including rolling back any damage (known as 'journaling'). The list goes on.

Give it a try, I'm sure you'll be most impressed.

Good Morning ! I'm currently using WSA Essentials and like the Seeker stated I have arrived at the point of decision where WSA is my main security app...and I just renewed my license for it. Webroot has shown continuous product improvement this past yr...and with the support being shown by Joe and Triple Helix here at the forums...it's in my opinion a Win Win situation for anyone concerned in aligning with an excellent product and company. Sincerely...Securon

Frys.com has week long sales on security software that begin every Friday. Just check the website and sooner or later WSA will be offered again.
