System TuneUp does a thorough job cleaning the junk that shellbags view exposes.
I do use Advanced System Care Pro regularly too.

R-Wipe & Clean, East Tech Eraser, Eraser, CCleaner, Tuneup utilities, and

XP Repair Pro, which does the best job at cleaning registry, and the temp/redundant files the others miss!

XP Repair Pro is defiantly #1 on my list, as it makes my machine run like its New! & Of course you need to run a defrager also, which totally improves system performance!

The common locations of junk files such as temp files, the browser cache, etc, are wiped by Eraser on a regular schedule. Junk and useless files that are installed by other software get removed during the install process. I run all installs and updates through Inctrl5, which lists every new file, folder, and registry entry. The bloat and useless files that are part of the OS were removed by LitePC. The OS (Win2K) and installed software takes up less than 1.7GB.

RegCleaner by Jouni Vuorio was great. Unfortunately it stopped working with Multi core processors. Last updated 2003.

Use CCleaner & ATF cleaner now. I implement CCleaners reg cleaning recommendations sparingly.

I only use CCleaner. There are others that clean more thoroughly but CCleaner has yet to delete anything it shouldn't have.

I use Sweepi by Yoo software. It cleans far better than the other cleaners I've tried. It's free. It's Swiss. It's great. :)

Deep Freeze. Anything written to the system partition (includes Registry) is discarded on reboot.

RPD from Rising Sun PC Doctor does it automatically So does Tuneup 1-click. Tweak Power Pack Pro or Advanced System Optimizer

Ccleaner and programs like that I just don't see the being so effective for users. When you install them they wan to add that darn web toolbar and link your search engine to yahoo or ask. Advanced System Care Free that's one you should stay away from. IOBIT does make a great Defrag Smart Defrag other than that.

    Tweak Power Pack
    Advanced System Optimizer

If you run both of these programs you can see how much junk files are missed by Ccleaner. Ccleaner Registry cleaner can screw-up your OS if you remove the wrong files.
