Scanning specified Folders

Is is possible to scan specified folders with on-demand scanner ?
I'm getting an error when trying to scan a particular folder. See attached

 

You may have forgotten to attach image..

 

Perhaps you don't have that folder on your machine.

 

Cannot scan that folder I think?
Unless in safe mode?

 

Its there. On a full scan the folder is scanned. When I try to scan that specific
folder, I get the error listed above.

 

This file/folder is a system one. You can manage your account to have rights to acces it.

So why is it that a full scan of the C drive using the on-demand scanner scans
that folder and removes any potential threats without any problem ? I haven't changed anything.

All I wanted to do is scan that folder only without scanning the entire C drive.

 

The NTFS permissions on the "System Volume Information" folder are screwy and unique. Microsoft did this on purpose, because they *really* want to keep the data in here safe and hidden. Even if you are logged in as Administrator, you do not have access to this folder. Try browsing it with Windows Explorer and you will get an "Access is denied" message.

The only user that has access to this folder by default is the special user SYSTEM. The on-demand scanner probably knows how to get around this when scanning the full drive. However, it is not able to do this when you use it as a starting point, because of the unique nature of the folder privileges.
