Why would their be so many CBS logs after cleaning with PrivaZer. Right after using PrivaZer (re-booted) I clean with CCleaner and there is more items to clean than normal. I would think there would be less.
Look's like another " Evidence Eliminator" program. Another one to collect dust on the shelf! Thanks for taking my money.
I disagree. I had a truecrypt folder and viewed some files. I never moved them from the TC folder. So after closing the TC folder, I ran Bleachbit with all of the updates, Ccleaner with Ccleaner enhancer (everything checked), and then R-wipe. Then I ran Privazer. As I was thumbing through the multiple lists of files and traces to delete, I found the names of these files that were locked in a TC folder. Only Privazer was able to find these and wipe them,. Another difference is that I have heard of Evidence Eliminator trashing people's computer's.
recently privazer has been wiping out firefox extension settings, such as umatrix and temporary containers. anyone know what setting to uncheck to stop this from happening?
We are working on it. Presumably due to changes in the latest update. @Circuit, we are investigating...
Up front, I confess, I feel a bit uneasy to ask... but eh ... what's are the functional differences, if any, between PrivaZer and PrivaZer Donors version? Probably I have been searching the wrong places, or maybe there are no functional differences. As first time user I get the below screen when launching PrivaZer.
Hello, donors version = automatic cleanup of internet traces at browser closing + command lines + more privacy options like for Shellbags cleanups + more to come...
Thank you! Maybe I overlooked this information on your website? If not, just as a positively meant suggestion: what about adding this to your site. Anyway, thanks again.
Did Privazer clean my registry? Please take a look at the screen shot. It has the registry listed as having over 2000 items cleaned. I don't know why it has the registry listed as having anything cleaned. I'm 100% sure that I unchecked the registry clean option. I'm going to sleep. I will check on this post when I get back up.
I did, the problem is I can't believe what i'm seeing since I unticked the option to clean the registry. When I clicked on the see option it showed a long list of things that had been cleaned from the registry. I only clean my registry manually. The only time I use a utility to assist me is when I allow the utility to find registry keys that might be safe to clean, and then I decide whether to remove them or not. I just rolled this PC back to a clean image I mage a year ago. It was running very nice until using this utility. I'm seeing solid blue screens at boot, and the freezes at Windows login now. I noticed this immediately after using Privazer and I have not hardly used my machine to see what else it may have done. It looks like it did clean my registry according to the screen shot. I gave Privazer a try about 3-4 years ago, and experienced problems then, but at least it did not clean a category I unticked. Privazer is dangerous in the hands of anyone if it's cleaning categories that the user has unticked. I don't have time to try to reproduce this again. My advice for the developer is try unticking the option to clean the registry, Then read the description of some of the other cleaning categories on the list. When closing the description check to see if the registry option has ticked itself again. I believe I saw that behavior once. I unchecked it again right before cleaning. I made sure the registry option was unticked before running Privazer. Well, i'm going to role my machine back since it's not running very smooth now.
If I remember correctly Privizer does clean some registry items even with registry unchecked.I just cannot remember the specifics. Not really a registry clean but left over junk written to the registry.Hope this makes sense.
I wish I had time to give better feedback, but I got some extremely important issues (none related to computing) to take care of. Maybe I can give some suggestions when I hear back from the developer since i'm not sure if Privazer conducted the registry clean option that I unchecked, or if that was part of another option. I sent bitcoins to PrivaZer bitcoin address, but I can not get the promised donor version. Support is not responding. What should I do?
@privazeruser, email with your license code just sent to you. Sorry for the late reply. @Cutting_Edgetech, Hello, there are internet traces left by web browsers in the registry like your browsing history. That's why, PrivaZer did clean your registry if the "internet traces " checkbox is checked and "registry" is unchecked. (we will add an option to leave the registry untouched as you request it). Blue screens or a PC slowdown at bootup, may be caused by faulty sectors on your drive. Thus, I would suggest you to run : chkdsk /F /R C: (it needs a reboot) to check and repair your faulty sectors. OK?
I ran chkdsk with the -f option, and it did not find anything. I will run it with the -r option when I have time. I already rolled my machine back, and it's running smooth again. Another very common cause of blue screens (not BSODs, just plain blue screen) during boot is onboard video, or video card problems. The image rollback fixed the problem so I doubt that is the issue though. If it only cleaned internet traces in the registry then I doubt that was the problem, but I think the amount removed from the my registry was quite a lot so i'm not sure if that was all that was removed. It will require me to do some testing when I have time.
@Cutting_Edgetech, job done. New option added in v3.0.54 just released : "Do not clean registry" at the bottom-right corner :
