VirusBuster is not so good in terms of detection rates, but I wouldn't say its the absolute worst AVs out there. Its among the top tier of all those AVs which are tested each year by AV-comparatives which do not have enough detection rate to reach a "standard" level (85%+) in the on-demand comparatives.

PC Tools Antivirus is a slightly modified VirusBuster engine but for most practical purposes it remains the same. For now, one should not look at this AV for top-notch protection.

The VB100% award suggests (to newbies) that the tested products are capable of detecting 100% of all viruses. This is simply not true since no product is able to detect all viruses. These vendors have come to realize the marketing significance of these tests, and the effort they put into their products to pass the VB100 tests may not reflect the effort they put into detecting viruses outside of those included in the VB100 test set. It's possible for an AV product to pass all the VB100 tests but still have mediocre or even poor virus detection. A prime example is PCTools AV. ;)

You don't understand the VB100%. It's not about detecting 100% of all malware but detecting 100% of ITW malware. There is a big difference defining these two.

"A VB100 award means that a product has passed our tests, no more and no less. The failure to attain a VB100 award is not a declaration that a product cannot provide adequate protection in the real world if administered by a professional. VB urges any potential customer, when looking at the VB100 record of any software, not simply to consider passes and fails, but to read the small print in the reviews."
