I started a thread on nProtect MBR Guard on this forum here last year:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=314821

That thread is old now and I couldn't update it. Anyway, I just found something...

If you go to nProtect MBR Guard Official Download Page (Korean)

you'll find that it reflects V3.0.1.5 which was last updated on 10/07/2012. You can download it by clicking on the top right orange button which will get you to this direct download link:

    Here's the 'funny' thing.

The version reflected on the English blog has not been updated and still shows as V3.0.1.4.

However, if you download using the direct download link listed on the English blog, you'll get V3.0.1.6.

I have not found any official page listing the change. Anyway, here's the MD5value I got from HashTab:

    *MD5 : 0AAEA5E3C87C3A8BCBD812ABAA621158

Just a heads up for those who might be interested or are using nProtect MBR Guard.

Thanks for the heads-up. Just updated my PC. I thought they might have an English translation by now though.

    Same here:

Thanks for sharing this news. I purposely been using & testing nProtect MBR Guard against all MBR infectors as well as manually trying to disrupt the MBR Table with all HexEditors and MBR Guard came through great with all my tests except WinHex. I'll test this updated version to see how it has or has not improved.

    Heres hoping :thumb:

Would it be possible for you to also test MBRGuard (part of AppGuard), if I can ask ?

Sorry to sound an off-note to a very considerate & concerned request (I have many myself), but i don't use AppGuard and personally don't favor it but not because it's not worthy, it is a very well laid out application for security, just not to my own personal specs given i find in my current security collection a more in-depth array of configurations that satisfy an appetite for information as well as safety.

On a side note: Discovered that what nProtect couldn't prevent, the Legendary and still popular ShadowDefender does in fact indeed PROTECTS against not only MBR infectors but even if you manually tamper with your MBR using any HexEditor. A huge plus!

I can understand your position about AppGuard and it's fine with me.
Great info on SD, because I am also using it, even if only on demand, right now.
    Thanks, EASTER

If shadow defender protects the mbr, & I have no doubt that it does, why is it necessary to add nProtect mbr guard also?

Does anyone know what nprunas.exe utility is for?

    BTW:

    - 3.0.1.6 was digitally signed on July and "scored" 0/41 at VT
    - 3.0.1.5 was digitally signed on February and "scored" 2/41 at VT
