    Hi guys,

Do any of you know if the Amazon Kindle app for PC is safe to use or whether it's a potential bad security risk please?

    Thank you!

    :)

Can you please elaborate, why do you think kindle app could be a potential bad security risk?

Kindle app is developed by Amazon themselves. It is a legit app and not a malware. It will not do anything to the security of your PC.

I have used a kindle from 2011 to 2020, but never used the app because the app's primary function is to enable one to read kindle books on a phone, tablet or PC; which in my opinion sort of defeats the purpose of buying a kindle in the first place.

The only issue that comes to my mind with the kindle app is privacy, but if you own a kindle, then Amazon already knows all the books you are reading anyways, so using the app will not further compromise your already compromised privacy.

I have used a Kindle for a similar length of time as Raza0007 and have never considered reading it on a PC.
I too would be interested in knowing why n13 is considering an Kindle app.

The only times I used Kndle for Windows was to download my DRM-free books, they often have some text informing that book is DRM-free by author or publisher request, and add them to my Calibre Library.

I really don't think it offers any risk, it will of course need connection to log you into your Amazon account, download your books and synchronize what is your last reading position in any given book.

I wasn't familiar with the Kindle app and so I just wanted to make sure before actually installing it. (Which I now have done.) :)

Also, I am using the app on my PC as I don't have the means to use it on any other devices.

    Thanks guys
