They are both excellent. You might want to try them both and see which one you like the best.

I have a license for both of them, couldnt make up my mind so I bought both of them (just kidding) :D
Actually I have Kaspersky on my computer and the other computer that everyone else uses (family, friends) has NOD32.
As was already mentioned the best one will be the one that you think is the best for you.

Kaspersky has the better signatures, while NOD32 has the better heurestics. NOD32 also uses less resources than Kaspersky. They are both excellent choices however. You might also want to try the Kaspersky 6 Beta and see if you like it more than Kaspersky 5.

Heh, maybe there was no need to contact Eset's support ;) We keep an eye on Wilders' forum all the time and provide non-stop support for urgent inquiries. I'd like to hear more details as to why you were not satisfied with Eset's support, please PM me.

Answering "Kaspersky AV v AVG Free" would have been easier for me.

Badcompany, KAV and NOD32 are both good company.

Perhaps it reffers to the quick answer to samples submission. :D o_O

If Eset paid their guys to sit around answering every submission with an email they would still be at version 1 and nobody would ever have time to add anything. Do you have any idea how many submissions they get in a day? I'm pretty sure Marcos has answered that one rather recently ;-)

Besides, Marcos was asking Badcompany why he personally was dissatisfied with Eset support.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of which one to buy. I'm Trail KAV 6 now and it's great. The system scan is slow but it is good. The Proactive Defense is rather annoying it pops up on everthing I do. LOL I do a little programing here and there and it pops up alot so I turned it off, but I have ProcessGaurd so I don't think I need Proactive Defense.

Don't disable the whole Proactive Defense, just disable reg guard / AIC. The rest is used by KAV trying to detect the newer stealthier malware :)

I started with Kaspersky (my licence is still valid) and liked the program a lot.

I had a problem and e-mailed support at least 3 or 4 times using several e-mail addresses (marketing - presales - tech support) at times i even had evidence they deleted my messages without reading them, and got an answer almost 2 months later when I had already bought Nod32....

As I said KAV was good but their support completely ignored me (and i had sought advice in their escellent forum).

I can't say anything about Nod, so far there was no need to contact their support, but some companies should realize they are going to loose many customers if they think the deal is over with the payment of the software.

I think Kaspersky is better than NOD32 for detection.
Larger virus database & greater engine.

Althoungh NOD32 is lighter than KAV, but it always misses detected some new virus:ninja:

I disagree, I did a scan with NOD32 came up clean. Then went to KAVs website, did a free scan also cameup clean but it took twice as long.

ATM AIC can have unexpected 100% CPU use episodes, so it it not advised to activate it. It isn't activated by default during setup.
Regguard is up to you. Just try it, see what works for you! (And read the help descriptions for what each component does ;) )

Apart from longer scanning times using KAV, would recommend both products as they are both excellent. Also, have never had anything get through in the last four years using NOD32.

If you just configure your KAV 6 to "Scan new and changed files only" after the first full scan, you can see that KAV 6 is able to "Scan My Computer" at least 7 times faster than NOD. :D

Remember to disable "Scan new and changed files only" in "Critical Areas" and "Startup Objects" scanning after that new "Scan My Computer" settings. :)

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!

I too would be interested in seeing an evidence for this. Quite the contrary, retrospective (proactive) tests carried out by www.av-comparatives.org deny your statement.

Me not, when you DETECT a new virus, you can also name it as some. In retrospective tests, you just show those samples as suspicious, variants, probably etc. infected with something.

By DETECTing a new virus, you are observing actually how short update delays that av-vendor has. That's it. :)

If someone wants to know which av-vendor has the shortest update delays, my bet is Kaspersky! :D

    Best regards,
    Firefighter!
