    Hi guys……

Ok, I don’t know too much about computers so I will try to be simple as I can (so I don’t get info overload).

    1. I created backup of my hard drive (6x4.7 DVD)
    2. Do I need to format 6 DVD-RWs using InCD before I can use Nero burning software
    3. How do I burn 6 created Acronis files by using Nero, what option should I use
    a. Make UDF/ISO DVD
    b. Make UDF DVD
    4. If I have DVD+R do I need to format this disk, or can I just go to Nero and burn my acronis file I created

Also I have another question, since I have 6 created files, can I restore my hard drive (using those 6 files) w/out burning them on DVD, can I do it from my desktop

I did look your FAQ, but I honestly don’t know how to do any of this tasks

    Thanks

Since you have the files already sized to fit each on one DVD, just use Nero (or any other burning software) to create a data DVD. The disks should be DVD+R or -R (or +RW or -RW) right out of the holder. Do not format them. Just run Nero and select each of the files one at at time to burn to a DVD disk. Let Nero choose the format.

It's easier and faster to restore when the files are on a hard disk rather than on DVDs. Hard disks are read faster than DVDs, and you don't have to keep sticking the next disk in the drive.

However, the restore file cannot be on the same drive that you are restoring. The first step of the restore is to wipe the partition clean, and that would delete the backup files if they were on that partition.

Frankly, an external hard drive is the best option. It has lots of speed if you have a USB 2 or Firewire connection, and it's large enough to hold a bunch of backups.

    Hello Dusan83706,

If the individual .tib files really are 4.7 GB then I think you will find they are too large to fit on a DVD. When creating the image to your hard drive I recommend you set the manual split size to 4.3 GB (ignore the dropdown picklist and just type the required size into the selection box).
As you are using the indirect two-step method there is no need to pre-format the DVD-RWs. If you want to reuse the RW disks then select Nero's "Recorder" menu item and choose "Erase Rewritable Disc...".
    DVD-ROM (UDF).
DVD+R is "write once" media and therefore can't be pre-formatted (Roxio software claims to be able to format DVD+R disks but it's not "formatting" in the true sense).
Not if they are stored on the same partition/disk that you wish to restore!!

If you're interested in finding out more about burning images to DVD check out this previous thread titled <Newbie Needs Your Help> (note that the Acronis FAQ referred to in the thread has since become FAQ #27). Just ignore the techy bits if you don't understand them :).

    Regards
