Please speak slowly cos I'm old!! OS - Win98se, 30gig, 128RAM, 550Megs. ;) Regards to all, Cochise.

    1. Rename COMDLG32.OCX in System folder to COMDLG32OLD.OCX

    2. Download COMDLG32.OCX from here. The second one listed. Unzip to the same System folder where you renamed the old COMDLG32.OCX.

    3. Register COMDLG32.OCX. Start > Run > type or cop & paste regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx > Click Ok or hit ENTER.
A message box that states "DllregisterServer in Register COMDLG32.OCX successful should appear.

    4. You may have to restart your PC

Many thanks Pieter for your prompt reply, will let my Son play with that bit of info - sorry, its a bit over my head at the moment, but whilst we're on the File subject - I ran Seagate Disk and File Check-Disk AOK - Files? Message read "File structure errors, run CHDSK/F or other repair utility" Would you please be so kind and tell me what that means please, can't find any reference to it in help or my books!!! TIA Cochise (Good Old England) :doubt:

    Hi Cochise,

    ABOUT CHKDSK:

Chkdsk is a utility which checks the computers hard disk drives status for any cross-linked or any additional errors with the hard disk drive.

    MS-DOS versions 2.x - 4.x used chkdsk.com
    MS-DOS versions 5.x and beyond used chkdsk.exe.

Today it is recommended that you run Scandisk as it is a much more reliable and safe utility then chkdsk.

If you have additional questions about this subject I would like you to open a new thread in Software & Services.

    Regards,

    Pieter
