Yeah ... IE 9's still rubbish LOL!

It's definitely a great improvement though. The less vulnerable users out there, the better.

True, I'm just a bit miffed because it won't run on my underpowered notebook without causing me RAM problems. I expected more from MS though. It seems to pale into insignificance compared to Opera 11.10. Mind you, IE 9 probably breaks less Yahoo! pages LOL. :D

Maybe, but better than Safari and Firefox anyway.

i like the security features but frankly, it feels like it was rushed.

i find it disappointing, coming from a big company like Microsoft.
it feels like it was put together with duct tape and chicken wires. o_O

"According to Stat Counter, IE9 hit a market share of 4.34% today and exceeded, for the first time, the market share of IE6, which is listed with 4.26%."

    Vasa, my dear friend,

Do I read it correctly ? Any product with a market share of only 4%+ is a non-starter, just a miniscule irrelevant plodder in the field of competition.

Had you said 43%+ then I would not be writing this note. On the other hand, I do hope that you are correct at 4%+ as it will show that IE has plummeted from 36%+ to ground zero whilst Firefox at a share of 38%+ is a climbing market leader.

You must recognise that the IE figures are global and a huge share is attributed to Third World countries whilst Firefox is orientated around the Western World. It is not a fair comparison. A more intelligent appraisal would be to compare browser shares in the Western World, North America, Europe, Australasia and perhaps China and Japan.

Anyhow, good luck with your 4%+ IE and may God go with you, I guess you1ll need some divine help by the look of it.

That's impossible that it could have got that high usage already since IE9 haven't been available long enough to reach those numbers.

I think it's a fair comment about Safari on Windows, which has never seemed to fulfil its potential, but Firefox 4.1 is probably the best Firefox version for ages (if you don't count any of the bugs ;) ).

Yup, I'm always trying out development versions of browsers and this time last year nearly all browsers were my "Main" browser. Now there's nothing worth using short of IE9 and Chrome, how times change.

Maybe this time next year, Opera will be everyones main browser?

OK, I concede that IE9 is a Newbie, but IE6 is`nt and is shown at 4.26%. Why talk about an ancient version ? I have IE8. Like I said, IE is a favourite with the Third World for obvious reasons and their Internet activity is very high.

I don`t wish to enter into a browser ding-dong, but see this :-

If I have got this one wrong, then I sincerely apologise to Vasa and all of you. Put it down to the Alcohol.
    I rest my case.

I still prefer Firefox over any other browser right now. It just works (at least for me). :D

I doubt it, but it's still way ahead of IE 9!

I'm waiting for 11.50 and I'll try out the portableapps.com version. It's amazing how tiny Opera's footprint is while still being highly customizable.

No need to be sorry. Though you could skip the alcohol ;)

Yes I do think it's about the IE9 market share. And how much it have gone up since the release.

YES ! I AM SORRY, especially to Vasa. I should have sobered up before I posted, because over the years, whatever Vasa has said, it is all good stuff, he is one of the stalwarts of Wilder's.

I feel a right prat - a conclusion which I hope the members do not support by posting, otherwise it will become a mammoth off-topic thread.

The Portable Apps version is what impressed me so much. I have an old LG thumbdrive with limited power, & rather than getting rid of it I tried running the portable Chrome & Firefox on it & had problems, but Opera works really well.

And the extensions work properly now! :)

    You are Not Alone...:D

    As far as the rest...

    Google Chrome
: When its ABP become as effective as the one of Firefox
and when all Websites are properly shown the way Firefox and IE do.

Opera: When it has No problems with Facebook Flash-Games
and when all Websites are properly shown the way Firefox and IE do.

IE: When it offers a better Favorites management that
Maintains the Non-Alphabetical Listing Order of Favorites
when Exporting and then Importing them
    and
when its Tracking Protection becomes less problematic.

You'd think the guys at Opera ASA would work on these problems instead of inventing weird & wonderful (often pointless) stuff for their browser. Just what is it with Opera & many Yahoo! pages anyway? I've always said Opera would be the best browser ... if only it worked properly LOL! o_O

Of course! It's Opera's problem that many websites are not standard-compliant. It's also Opera's fault that many web designers don't test their code under all browsers. Oh, wait... I forgot I'm in Firefoxland.

One anomaly I've found between Chrome & Firefox is with how certain scripts are run. For example, when using the Search function on Wilders, Chrome takes me to the Search area at the bottom of the page whilst Firefox opens up a dialog box at the top near the Search link. Of course, someone might know how to make Chrome do exactly the same thing as Firefox and I'm all ears for that, but just pointing out what I see at the moment.

Isn't Microsoft support being dropped from IE6 so Microsoft IE9/8 would have to have a bigger market share. But IE8/9 still sucks it is better to go with Firefox; Opera or chrome.
