Will defensewall ever have 64 bit support? Been waiting for the longest time, and there seems to be no progress...

    IMHO not likely to happen.

I think so too, but I can't help but think it would be nice for everyone interested to get a definite "No" so people can stop wondering and hoping for it to happen. Otherwise people will still ask this question 10 years from now. "maybe there is a 64-bit version in the works...yeah I think I need to ask if anyone have heard anything about it" :D

Maybe Ilya will drop by from avast to inform us. :)

Well seeing as the developer has moved to the green fields of avast it might be a possibility that defensewall style security may come to the avast security suite....?

Just a thought to ponder over.

Currently, it's not feasible to make 64 bit version of DW. Anti-viruses are eating all the money at the market. Technically, I know how to bypass PatchGuard, but I have more security projects in my mind I find more interesting then DW.

So, is the development stopped or not?

    From CVE-2015-1515:
    A public POC is available.

Just so I understand Ilya, you're saying that the active development of DefenseWall has ceased and the final and last version is the current released one or will there still be updates for DefenseWall 32bit. I'm just trying to clarify your last response here.

I was never a fan of Defensewall, but I'm a bit surprised that you never developed a 64 bit version. All other security vendors have adapted to PatchGuard, take Sandboxie for example.

Guy's Ilya coulnd't have spelled out better. He is no longer working on it.

Then why not turn it into freeware?
It's not that people will rush to buy a dead product.

Even if it becomes a freeware it will be a unsupported freeware.

True but better anything than nothing. Even GeSWall and ThreatFire are good today.

I'll try to be optimistic by believing that Ilya no longer working on DW doesn't necessarily mean the product will be dead. I dunno, maybe some other team would continue the development somehow somewhere.

No, it's not, going to release 3.25 with number of internal improvements soon.

Yes, it's my point of view this time. Maybe, it will change in the future, who knows, and 64 bit development to be feasible.

I have no sells for a log time. So, I supporting DW 32 bit and that's it.

Exactly! No difference if the product is paid or free in case it's not supported.

Time for end-user security innovations under Windows platform has passed. Windows security market is now very established and conservative. Maybe, Windows development team will do something similar, but no third-party companies, definitely. That's why I'm moving away from security for Windows to make new security projects.

Ilya I have free version of Defensewall from 2009.That was giveaway version. It has so low defense. It is weaker than default windows xp firewall.I felt like without any armour.Yes, you will say- hey man that was from 2009, yes but in that time it was new product. And today, Comodo fw from 2009 has better defense than Defensewall from that time.

AFAIK, firewall module was introduced in v3.
You are talking about v2.56, right?

Thanks Ilya for the clarification, so DefenseWall as it is, 32bit is still being actively developed with an update coming soon, but a 64bit version is still not in the foreseeable future. I appreciate the info.

Thanks Ilya for the update. Still holding out hope for x64 DW or something even more innovative.
