This poll is about freeware programs used to backup user data- pictures, mp3's, documents, etc to an external source minus online. Some listed could also be considered sync programs but since they have backup features I decided to include them. I have not included individual entries for disk imaging programs like Macrium Reflect but there is an option in the poll if that is your preferred way of backing up your computer. If you use online backup and also backup to cd/ external hard drive etc please vote for the freeware program you use or select "other" and state which one. You should also state that you use both in your post. Same goes for those who use an imaging program as well as a backup program. This poll allows for multiple vote choices.

    Thanks

    I use a combination:

    - Mainly, my Win7's Windows Backup (Backup and Restore Center) on all its possible capabilities.

    - GoodSync Pro to anything related to my RoboForm Pro.

    - And finally, I maintain updated backup copies of some few very important files on two pendrives and several free online storage/mail services.

File-based: Areca Backup - great freebie - has full, differential, and incremental backups, restore contents as of any backup date, ability to restore any saved version of a file
Synchronization and folder comparision: FreeFileSync - does realtime sync also
Online: probably will use SpiderOak - keeps all file versions and deleted files

Macrium Reflect. Why backup files when I can just browse the image?

But where is it on the poll?

I use three different (soon to be four) mirror imaging programs: Paragon free, ShadowProtect, and Acronis True Image version 9; one of them, Paragon, is free. Each is contained in a different FirstDefense Snapshot so they don't interfere or fight with each other. I can use any of the three's recovery CD should any of the two others fail. I am planning on also adding Macrium (also free), also on another FD-ISR Snapshot of course.

Also, using free Acronis True Image branded Seagate (or is it Seagate branded Acronis True Image?) on another pc.
