I have 2 internal drives (C & D). My Paragon Backup & Recover Free backup strategy used to be Full Backup and then Differential Backups, but, due to the addition of a large external hard drive, I have changed that strategy to Full Backup daily. My question is: Under the old strategy, I let Paragon assign the file names automatically, but with the new strategy, I want Paragon to overwrite the previous backup each day. I can find no place to tell Paragon to overwrite the image if the file names are the same. Can you tell me how I do this? Thanks William Algie walgie@yahoo.com
I think I found the answer. If I uncheck the "assign file name automatically". Paragon is smart enough to overwrite the backup image. Is this correct?
Do you mean that images created in different days have the same name? Aren“t the date and time included in the name? I think If you uncheck "assign files automatically" and split the image, the program will stop and ask for a name every time a new file is to be written. Anyway, you can just try to find out if the image is overwritten.
If I uncheck "assign file name automatically", and enter a file name of my choice, the date and time will not be a part of the file name and when the scheduler starts up the next day, the file name will be the same. I schedule the backups for C and D drives at 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM and I want Paragon to overwrite the file name and not stop and ask me what the name should be.
I guess no one administering this forum knows the answer to my question, so I'll educate you for free. If all of the instances of "Assign file name automatically" are left unchecked, when creating the new backup image, Paragon will overwrite the file without asking. Thanks anyway.
