    Hiya,

Back in the day it used to update 2/3 times a day wich i thought of as very frequent. Nowadays things are changed?

    Look here: http://www.avira.com/en/threats/section/vdfhistory/index.html

9 large updates for today alone so far, is this common - correct?

Boy n i thought A2 was going nuts on updates.

Atleast twice a day has become a norm now, almost every major security vendor does it. And they just keep increasing .... I remember when I use to manually update some of my PCs with complete AV db of around 2-3MB size. Now if you download manually the DB from most AV vendors the size is almost 10 times more !!

They also need to be updated on a regular basis to keep up with new trends, and to correct false positives.
